Evidence / Question & answer

Why do stories change in retelling?

Memory, editing, audience, and later interpretation can affect retellings. A change deserves comparison with the earliest available source; it is not automatically proof of deception. Multiple interviews may still concern a single reported event.

Context and limits

Our library keeps source records separate from event records. The initial dossiers do not include a version-by-version transcript comparison, so they cannot establish how wording changed. That work requires original material, permissions, and transparent review.

Bible references and explanations here are identified paraphrases unless stated otherwise. Source inclusion does not mean full-text review, endorsement, or rights clearance. No named independent reviewer sign-off has been supplied.
